Most cabinet painters will not give you a number until they have stood in your kitchen. Cabinet Transformer does it differently. The price per piece
How much does cabinet painting cost in Dallas?
Cabinet Transformer charges $115 per piece to paint kitchen cabinets in Dallas. A piece is one door or one drawer front. The price covers both paint and labor, and it is the same for a small door as for a large one.
Three things can be added to that:

Insides go by the door. There is no cavity to paint behind a drawer, so Charles leaves drawers out of that count.
These prices are current as of October 2026 and are subject to change. They are list prices, before anything specific to your kitchen is added.
Count your own kitchen
Open every door and pull every drawer, and count the fronts. Charles, who runs the work at Cabinet Transformer, used a 45-piece kitchen as his example: 30 doors and 15 drawer fronts.
- Painting only: 45 pieces at $115 is $5,175.
- Insides too: 30 doors at $40 adds $1,200, for $6,375.
- New hinges on all 30 doors: 30 pairs at $12 adds $360, if each door has one pair. Tall doors can have more.
A smaller kitchen with 20 doors and 10 drawer fronts is 30 pieces: $3,450 to paint, and $800 more for the insides behind the 20 doors.
Plenty of people skip the insides and keep their hinges. If all you want is the color changed, the per-piece price is most of your bill.
What the per-piece price leaves out
The $115 is for painting what you already have. Anything that changes the cabinets is priced on its own line:
- A new five-piece door is $75, at any size.
- A new drawer face is $75.
- A new drawer box is $50, and the 21 inch undermount soft-close slide it runs on is $50.
- A side-mount slide fitted to a drawer you already have is $40. The drawer has to be 1 inch narrower than its opening for that to work.
- Demo labor depends on the job. On a big job it is sometimes waived. On others it is charged.
Those matter most when a kitchen is being painted and reworked in the same visit, for example a base cabinet with doors turned into a stack of drawers.
When the lower quote costs more
A low number usually means the painter left something out. Before you compare two quotes, check that they cover the same things:
- Are the insides in or out?
- Are the face frames, end panels and island sides painted, or only the doors?
- Are the doors taken off and finished on both sides?
- Are hinges and pulls reused, or replaced?
- Is the prep written down? Cabinet Transformer cleans, degreases and sands every surface, primes with a commercial-grade primer, and then topcoats.
Paint that goes on over a glossy or greasy surface peels. Redoing it costs more than the gap between the two quotes ever was.
